Why it’s important to not get ahead of yourself when building a website
This might come as a shock (or maybe not, if you’ve read the other parts of this series), but picking a platform shouldn’t be the first step in building a website. If have read the other posts in this series, I think by now you that it’s actually the sixth step. If you haven’t, go back and start from the beginning. The entire series can be found here.
As you know by now, going head first into picking a platform will only serve to make you more overwhelmed. And this overwhelm is what leads to half-finished websites and abandoned ideas. That’s why we do it differently around here, folks, and why it’s going to be different for you!
You’ve set yourself up for success. Now it’s just a matter of taking allll of this planning and putting it to use.
The process you’ve followed in this series is the same one I use when starting a new website for clients. I take into consideration their goals, audience, products and services, priorities, and budget. Then I determine which platform we should use and how the website should be built.
Let’s revisit the topic of your budget a little bit. If you have a price range within your comfort zone, just leave it at that. Many people find themselves becoming obsessed with finding the cheapest option and saving the most money. But, if something that you love is in your budget, stop obsessing!
Go with your gut, do what you love, and try not to obsess over the little things too much.
Regardless of where you’re going from here, whether you’re going the DIY route or you plan to hire some of the work out, you’ve done all the work. It may not have all felt that fun, but I hope you can now say that you’re more confident in yourself as a business owner and in your business’s next step.
I’m so proud of you!
And now that you’ve read all 6 parts of this series, I am CONFIDENT that you will knock this website out of the park. Remember, I am always here for you! For design, for consults, for audits, for some encouragement, or for some tough love.
You got this!
