Let’s talk about what branding really is
Your brand is your company, product, or organization. Branding is a verb. It’s the process of actively shaping your business, product, or organization. It’s the act of giving it meaning, and making it a living, breathing entity. It’s a cohesive demonstration of the personality of your brand. It’s how everything in your business work together to build trust within your community. While your logo, color palette, and font choices are a part of your brand identity (they’re referred to as your ‘visual identity’, if you’re interested in the nerdy stuff), there is so. much. more. involved.
This is precisely why when it’s time to build your brand identity or take on the daunting task of rebranding, you find the right person to help you do it.
Enter: me! I’ve been designing brand identities for years. In that time, I’ve developed quite a knack for reading between the lines because I know just how difficult it is to articulate everything your business means and stands for.
Your brand identity is your organization’s voice, look, feel, personality, ethos, and mission. When done right, it seeps into everything you do.
A solid brand identity will make your job easier AND more fulfilling. No more questioning which colors or fonts to use, no more questioning what kinds of graphics to use, and more importantly, no more second guessing your decisions. A good brand identity will provide you with a road map of predetermined rules so all you have to focus on is your message.
For these reasons and more, I take this job pretty seriously.
“Through your creative journey and responding to feedback, you landed on such a beautiful representation for both agencies to become one. You are truly wonderful to work with – so a heartfelt thank you on all levels.”

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty!
Because a brand identity encompasses so much, we start out with a discovery workshop. This is just an in-depth look into everything that makes your business tick. We look at things like your audience, your brand story (purpose, vision, mission, etc), your personality and values, your products and services, and your short-term and long-term goals.
From here, we take everything we discovered and translate it into visuals by creating a moodboard (technically called ‘stylescape’). This is where we start deciding on things like color palettes, font choices, graphical elements, and image treatments. By the end of this stage, we’ll have your visual identity completely nailed down.
This will provide us with a solid set of brand guidelines that will dictate everything from the way you speak about yourself to the visual rules to follow when creating marketing materials.
And depending on your needs, we may also provide mockups and templates with these rules already in place, so it’s just a matter of plugging in your content.
If a logo is in your cards, we can also craft a symbol or mark that represents your brand. Normally we’ll do 1-3 versions and hone in from there.
