Project Overview

LA Original was created in conjunction with the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles and the extremely talented people at 72 and Sunny. They created the brand and I created the website. The goal of the project was to solidify LA as the creative capital of the world by highlighting the many artists and creators who are based in the city. The secondary goal was to work with local charities and provide a portion of proceeds to their causes.

Key Features

Online Shop/Catalogue

This isn’t a typical online shop or marketplace since (for legal reasons) the organization couldn’t take online payments. So each product had to be directed to the maker’s site for payment processing. We included a “wishlist” that replaced the on-site shopping cart, so users could save items and return when ready to purchase.

Maker Profiles

Each maker, or vendor, was given their own profile page that has a list of their products. Users could shop by product or by maker.

Enhanced Analytics Tracking

Since users are directed out of the LA Original site to process payments, we added click tracking so we have an idea of how many people are clicking through to make those purchases.

Post Launch Support

I have provided ongoing support and updates since the site launched over a year ago. We just had a second season launch that included enhanced product variations and the addition of a seasonal poll over the summer.
